Iván Enquin

Enquin (Buenos Aires 1987) works with drafts of erotic publications. These come from rigorous die-cuts of Islamic motifs. West, East, sex and religion, exhibition and censorship; they are opposed. On the one hand, there are the traditionally rejected erotic images, considered as something vulgar and taboo for our visual culture in relation to pornography. On the other, the Muslim thought about how images should be represented, through their sacred geometry.

Formed with the artists Andrés Labaké, Leticia Obeid, Ernesto Pesce, Dolores Casares, Eduardo Médici among others.

Among his solo exhibitions, the most notable are Ahonda el Vacuum, Galería Quimera, (2017); 3 Alpha Centauri Gallery, (2014); Rhythmic Narcosis, Casa Matienzo, (2014).

He was selected in different salons, among which are: Itaú Visual Arts Award Selection. Casa del Bicentenario (2019), “Policies of the intimate” CC Conti (2018); Selection of the National Fund for the Arts Award. Casa del Bicentenario (2018), Selection of the Junín Hall Award (2018); Biennial Trio. Ciudad da Artes, Rio de Janeiro (2017); Vicentín Foundation Award Selection (2016); “Geometry as a condition of possibility”. National Fund for the Arts (2015); Andreani Foundation Award Selection. Tigre Museum (2013); Colegiales Hall, Matienzo House and Perotti Gallery (2013), Project A Award Selection, Project A Gallery (2010-2011-2012); Argentine Consulate in NY (2005-2006-2008), Johnson & Johnson Art Center, New Jersey (2006); Chealea Art Museum, NY (2005); CC Recoleta (2005).


He has received the following awards: Mention in the Junín Hall Award (2018); Second Prize Vittal Foundation (2014), First Mention Colegiales Hall (2013).
