Andrez Martinez (Montevideo 1979) starts from “glitched” photographic files that serve as sketches to later take them to painting, demanding the maximum level of abstraction in the process. The vestiges of those summer memories are only hinted in the titles of the works.
In Uruguay, he attended the Maldonado School of Plastic and Visual Arts, held painting workshops with Marta Milans and Carlos Musso, engraving with Diego Bertorelli and a work clinic with Alfredo Torres. In Argentina, he participated in the Inqubarte Ace Foundation Grant Program for Contemporary Art. He received the Mention Award at the II Uruguayan Heritage Photography Salon (2002), the Mention Award at the CTC-ORT Uruguay Painting Salon (2006) Audience Award at the First Land Art Encounter, Valle del Elqui, Chile (2009) and the Fondo Pro Cultura Intendencia de Maldonado Award, Uruguay (2012). Among his individual exhibitions, the following stand out: Quimera Galería (2017), Kavlin Cultural Center (Punta del Este,, 2016), Argentine Art Office (2015).
His work has been selected to participate in the Art Experience Tour (Punta del Este, 2014), Bartolomé Mació National Painting Salon (San José, Uruguay, 2012), First Exhibition of Dissemination of Young Art. Ministry of Foreign Relations, Montevideo (2002), IV International Biennial of the Coast, Paysandú, Uruguay (2001) among others.
