Alejandro Castelli
Castelli (Buenos Aires, 1947) works with a poetic of irony, of the dreamlike and of naivety to present issues that fascinate and also concern him. Wood, as a “moldable” material, has accompanied him since his Basque ancestors, just as imagery is his Catalan legacy. From the language of drawing and sculpture, he engages in social and political issues that can be glimpsed behind the impossible landscapes that he invites us to look at.
The disciple in drawing and painting of Master Demetrio Urruchua. Self-taught sculptor and image maker, he participated in countless individual exhibitions, among which are: Marcó del Pont Cultural Center – Casa de la Cultura (2002), Recoleta Cultural Center (1998), Gral. San Martín Cultural Center (1998-1996), Hoy in Art (Pinamar 1995-1986) Giménez Zapiola (1983). He has received the following distinctions: Special Prize lV Annual Naif Painting Salon (1985), 3rd, 2nd Annual Naif Painting Salon Prize (1984), 2nd. Annual Naif Painting Salon (1983), Honorable Mention First Annual Naif Painting Salon in Art Gallery (1983). Honorable Mention Annual CADA Salon (1979).
